“Even if I knew that
tomorrow the world
would go to pieces,
I would still plant
my apple tree.”
-Martin Luther
I know… I know. I’m the worst. What kind of blogger abandons her work for two full months? Lazy ones like me. Whoopsies.
In my defense I have been working a lot. Except when I went home for Thanksgiving. And again for Christmas. If I said I have been in a turkey coma for over 8 weeks would you believe me? It’s not really important that you believe me, there’s nuttin’ yous can do about it, I’m just trying to ease my own conscience.
And I realize this is kind of a weak post to make my “big return” with, but being cold is truly the bane of my existence, and since Colorado weather has been fluctuating between the mid 50s and close to zero, I figured I’d share with you what I made the other night after spending an hour shivering under the covers and wondering when death would come.

Serves: 8
Ingredients:
1/2 gallon Fresh Apple Cider (NOT apple juice)
1 tbsp Whole Cloves
3-4 Cinnamon Sticks
1/2 Orange (cut into 2 or 3 pieces with the rind still on)
Cheesecloth
_
1. In a square of the cheesecloth, add the cloves, cinnamon sticks and orange slices, and tie the cloth into a bundle with a piece of string, or another strip of the cloth.
2. In a large pot, add the cider and the spice bundle. Heat over medium until warm/hot all the way through. If the cider starts to foam up too much, remove it briefly from the heat and stir until the foam goes down, then return the pot to the stove.
I’ve been waiting for your big return you slacker 😉 oh how I’ve missed you!
